Is one bothered? When the Queen broke protocol and drove King Abdullah in her Land Rover



Driving is infamously forbidden to women in Saudi Arabia. Yet this did not stop Her Majesty from taking the wheel and leaving the recently deceased Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in the passenger seat- literally, during a visit to the United Kingdom in 1998. Recounting the event, a former British ambassador recalls how Queen Elizabeth II ignored Saudi protocol and drove the King around in her royal Land Rover to his surprise.
